Abstract This study was done On 75 Patients to determine the effect of different anaesthetic agents and techniques on blood volume in patients with bilharzi-al hepatosplenomagaly as well as in non-bilharzial cases.All patients were sub-jected to Pre-operative clinical examination to exclude, anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, endocrinal disturbances, cardiovascular diseases and advanced bilharzial hepatosple-nomegaly. Niether fluids or blood nor any surgical interference were allowed until the effect Of anaesthesia solely on blood volums was assessed. Venous blood samples, 10 ml. each, were taken in the following manner. (A) Before anaesthesia and dye injection to be used as ablank. (B) Before anaesthesia but 15 minits after intravenous. |
