Abstract

This study has been planned to compare the haemodynamic changes that occur during halothane versus propofol anaesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The patients were classified into two groups, ten patients each.
The first group was anaesthetized by halothane and the second group was induced and maintained with propofol.
Haemodynamic parameters , heart rate, blood pressure, Electrocardiogram were non invasively monitored. Also, PEtc02 and arterial oxygen saturation were continiously monitored through the operation.
This study revealed that SIX patients of halothane developed arrhytlunias in the fonn of ventricular extra systole, sinus brandy cardia, and tachy cardia.
However , other haemodynamic parameters, end PEtc02 and aIierial oxygen saturation were within acceptable nonnal range.
Cardiovascular stability was noted with propofol group, as patients showed no electrocardio graphic changes.
