Abstract Many years ago the storage of granulocytes for transfusion has not been practical because it has been considered that their function in bank blood is retained for only a few hours after collection. The increaskng importance of granulocyte transfusion, the development of methods for collection of large numbers of granulocytes, and the possible clinical effectiveness of transfusion of these cells, makes the investigation of granulocyte preservation imperative. The aim of the prese study was to: * Clarify the changes that may occur in different neutrophil functions during liquid preservation. * Select the best anticoagulant and preservative medium for maintaining the neutrophil functions as long as possible. * Determine the maximum storage time that maintains good and sufficient neutrophil functions. Comparative studies between different anticoagulants and storage media were carried out to .identify their effects on neutrophil functions during storage, to. |
