Abstract

Dermatophyte infections are highly prevalent all over the world especially in the developing countries. Sometimes, the use of systemic drugs for management of such infections gets essential. Griseofulvin and ketoconazole are the most famous and commonly used ones among the systemic drugs available in this regard. However, both drugs have been reported to induce hepatic injury in a number of treated patients which may be, very rarely, fatal especially in case of ketoconazole. ; The aim of this work was to compare the effect of griseofulvin and ketoconazole on some liver functions in an attempt to evaluate the relative safety of either drug to the liver and to find out a sensitive test or a group of tests that may be helpful in early diagnosis of hepatic impairment which may necessitate drug discontinuation. ’:~’~”.-.,..
