Abstract
The present work is conducted to evaluate the effect of various drugs used in the treatment of infertility and subfertility as clomiphene citrate, human chorionic g’onado-troohines, testosterone and mesterolone on both the spermato-genic and the hormonal functions of the testis. A correla¬tion is made between the semen picture -and the urinary levels of both 17-oxosteroids as well as estrogens (total and fractions). A series of 130 infertile patients and 25 healthy-fertile controls of the same age group were investigated and selected carefully to be free from any disease that may interfere with our results. Semen analysis was done at least twice for every case before being included in our study and monthly there¬ after until the end of the follow up period, using the criteria of Etrebi et al (1964) and Eliass on (1973). Testicular biopsy was done in 26 azoospermic pat¬ients and in 5 subjects with severe oligospermia, following the criteria of Amelar (1966).
