Abstract SUMMARY & CONCLUSION The role of emotional factors in the genesis of alopecia areata has been considered as a source of debate. The view of various authors are so contradictory , and this leaves us with no satisfactory explanation for the role of these factors. The present study is conducted as a trial to evaluate the propable relationship between alopecia areata as a dermatologic disease and the psychiatric state of the affected individual and to delineate some of the psychologic and psychophysiologic aspects of this diseasec One hundered patients with alopecia areata, were shosen randomly from the out-patients clinic of Dermatology Department of Mansoura University Hospital. All patients were subjected to the following: A- Clinical Assesment: 1- Thorough history taking ”Psychobiogram”. 2- Thorough physical and dermatologic examination.
