Abstract
In this study forty male fasting rabbits weighing (1.5¬2) Kg were used. The animals were divided into 4 groups (A,B,C and D). Twenty rabbits were used as controls and the (’1 remaining animals were injected subcutanou~’by 50mg/Kg body / weight L-DOPA. After half an hour of injection specimens were taken (from all the animals) from the different segments of the GIT (fundus, pyloNls, duodenum, jejunum, ileum. colon. rectum and appendix) and from the respiratory system (upper and lower parts of the trachea and from central and peripheral parts of the lung. The specimens were fixed by immersion in one of the following fixatives (10% neutral buffered formalin, Bouin’s solution, ortho’s fluid and a mixture of formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde) or by perfusion intracardially with the previously mentioned fixatives. Paraffin sections of six microns thickness were prepared and stained by iorn Hx, Grimelius stain, Pascual’s stain? Singh modification of Masson Hamper! stain, alkaline diazo stain of Gomori, modified chromaffin, and PAS-Lead-Hx methods.
