Abstract
This study comprised 60 patients of AMI who were admitted to the CCU of Mansoura University Hospital. This included 30 patients under 45 years of age (mean age 40.6+4.7) (group I) and 30 patients over 45 years of age (tnean age 59.9+6.9) (group II). The aim of the present work is to study clinical presentation possible aetiology, the in hospital clinical courses, conunon complications and the results of different therapeutic modalities in young patients with AMI in our locality in order to establish a suitable diagnostic and therapeutic approach for this problem. The following data were fulfilled for every patient:¬(1) Detailed history taking. (2) Clinical examination: which included general and local examina- tion. (3) Investigations: Including twelve lead ECO tracing, cardiac enzy- mes (CPK, LOH, SOOT), serum lipids (total cholesterol, HOL cholesterol, LOL cholesterol, triglycerides), fasting and 2h pp hlood gl ucose levels, uric acid, chest x-ray, echocardiography. This study revealed the following results:- Since May 1991 to October 1995; 541 patients were admitted to CCU with diagnosis of AMI of them 115 patients were below 45 years of age with a prevalence 01’21.3%•
