Abstract In our governorate, bilharziasis is an endemic disease and the association between it and other causes of liver cirrhosis may affect pulmonary function in a different or similar manner. This study designed to assess the effect of this association between bilharziasis and other causes of hepatic cell failure on pulmonary function. Our study comprised 54 - cases. 10 - healthy adult as control group and 30-patients with mixed liver cirrhosis including 10-cases of mixed lever cirrhos~s (not complicated with liver cell failure or ascites) as compensated group and 20-cases of mixed liver cirrhosis with heaptic cell failure as decompensated group (10-cases without encephalopathy and 10-cases with encepahlopathy) and in addition to 14-cases with chronic active hepatitis (7-cases hepatitis Band 7 cases hepatitis C ). We found highly significant decrease in FVC%. |
