Abstract 1- The aim of the present work is to study the ABO blood group distribution in relation to various cli¬nical patterns of hepatosplenic bilharziasis, 1’Thich is characterised by diverse clinical modalities, comp¬lications and unexplained evolution. 2- 1286 cases representing different clinical patterns of hepatosplenic bilharziasis vlere selected from in¬patients and out-patients in the department of Eec1i¬cine at l1ansoura University Hospitals and some J?ublic Health Hospitals in Dakahlia Governorate. Data concer¬ning 680 cases of ruptureo. oesophago-gas .,.’ic varices were obtained from in-patients and Blood Bank records in these hospitals. 3- .11 cases were coming from endemic areas with definite past history of bilharziasis, and to which many cou¬rses of anti-bilharzial treatment had been given. 4- On clinical examination, these cases have the picture of bilharzial hepatic fibrosis with big spleen. Cases wi th marked nodulari ty of the liver or those wi’,h doubtful history of bilharziasis vTere excluded from the study. |
