Abstract
aim is to study if ingested aflatoxin act synergestically with hepatitis viruses Band C in the pathogenesis of chronic liver diseases in our locality and also its relation to hepatocellular carcinoma. This study included 47 patients, 23 with HCC, 15 patients with• liver cirrhosis and 9 healthy control subjects were taken as a control group. The mean age was 30.78 ± 15.85 in control, 40.8 _~ 11.09 in cirrosis and 54.74 + 10.62 in HCC. The male to female ratio is 6:3 in control, 11:4 in cirrhosis and 17:6 in HCC. Every patient was subjected to the following studies: 1- Careful history including history of Bilharziasis, jaundice, blood transfus•ion, smoking, pills} alcohol and drug intake. 2- Carefal clinical examination. 3- Abdominal ultrasonography.
