Abstract The present study was planned to assess the risk factors of the second stroke and to identify the nature of the second lesion (is it ischemic or hemorrhagic) and its location. The material of this study comprised forty-five patients suffering from second stroke. They were randomly chosen from patients admitted to the Neurology Department of Mansoura University Hospital. They were twenty males and twenty five females. Their ages ranged from 20 to 75 years. Patients were divided into two main groups:- a- Ischemic group: which comprised thirty four patients. b- Hemorrhagic group: which comprised eleven patients. Patients were subjected to:- - Thorough history taking and clinical examination. - Routine laboratory investigations including: hemogram, renal function tests, fasting and post-prandial blood sugar, liver function tests, serum uric acid, bleeding and clotting time, blood group and lipogram. |
