Abstract This study included a retrospective analysis of ninty patients with ovarian carcinoma presented to Mansoura University Hospital, Radiotherapy & Oncol~gyDepartment during the period from 1975 to 1988 inclusive. In the present study, we found that ovarian cancer accounted for 4.02% of all malignant tumours and 23.2% of cancer of the female genital tract. A correlation had been done between prognosis (both 2years and 5years survival) and recurrence with different factors known to affect the prognosiS in cases of ovarian carcinoma as age of patients at time of diagnosis, stage of the disease, pathological types, tumour grade, residual. Disease after surgerY and treatment. There was a statisticallY significant difference in the 5-year survival between patients40 years and patients >50 years and between patients <50 years and patients >6n years, being higher in younger age groups. There was no statistically significant difference between the age and the recurrence rate. Also, there was a statisticallY significant difference in the 5-year survival between early stages (I, II) and late. |
