Abstract
The present study was carried out in the Nuclear Medicine Unit, Mansoura University Hospital aiming at standaradization of thyroid gland uptake and scanning with Tc99m in Dakahlia province. One hundred Dakahl ia province inhabi tants participated in this study. All of them were euthyroid as proved by clinical examination and laboratory assessment (T3, T4 and T.S .H). All persons were subjected to thyroid uptake and 99m 131 scanning using Tc and thyroid uptake using I . The sample study showed difference as rgard ten variables, age, 99m 99m sex, address, T3, T4, T. S. H., Tc uptake at 20m, Tc 131 131 uptake at 60 m, I uptake at 2h and I uptake at 24 h. In the present study the resul ts obtained recommend a dose of 50 Mci/Kg of Tc99m pertechnetate in order to obtain convenient scan and uptake values while a dose of 0.15 Mci/Kg 131 . of I gives similar convenient uptake values.
