Abstract 199 cases with breast cancer were analYJ!:ed from the year 1978-1982 inclusive. 122 out of total cases demonstrated recu¬rrence after surgery ± post-operative radiotherapy ± che~other¬apy., the recurrent cases were frequently seen in middle & old¬er age groups and in postmenopausal class of patients( 75.86% ) Most of cases with recurrence were noticed in patients with in¬ner quadrant tumour( 54.10% ), and in those with large size pr¬imary> 5cm( 56.5696 ). r-Ioreover most of the recurrence wer-e ass¬ociated with advanced c”linical stage ( 65.7696 ); cases ”,ith in¬filtrating duct carcinoma ( 81.15% ), and cases with high inci¬dence of positive axillary node involvement( 90.0996 ). The most common site involved by recurrence was the chest wall. In conclusion we can say that, the outcome of treatment of cancer breast is still guarded with relatively high incience of loco-regional recurrence after treatment. 1;,1e beleive that a National Cancer registry .:6l.nd• specialized centers for early detection of cancer of the breast are mandatory to improve the results and increase curability of this serious disease. |
