Abstract

Immediate PPIUD insertion following delivery, has the advantages of high motivation, easy insertion and convenience for oth the patients and the service provider . Accessibility and emographic effectiveness are two other advantages, especially for omen in less developed countries, where supervised puerperal are is of short duration (Potter, 1973). Previous studies have indicated that PPIUD does not interfere with lactation (Hefnawi et al., 1975, Prema,1982 & Burnhill (1966), also breast feeding women report less pain and bleeding during insertion. The aim of our study is to compare the efficacy and the side the interval IUD and to explain the different techniques for PPIUD. Our study included 443 women, whom were counselled for PPIUD during the antenatal period and were selected from cases admitted to the emergency and the high risk units in Mansoura University Hospital and were inserted with IUD in the post partum period and were divided into 3 subgroups, one of them use IUD in placental period (Within 10 minutes after placental the second subgroup use IUD within 48 hours after delivery .
