Abstract This work included retrospective stud3 of the files of retinal detachment patients in Mansoura Uni¬versit3 Hospital in order to find out possible causes of recurrence. The stud3 included analysis of retinal detachment patients regarding pre-operative risk factors, operative and post-operative complications. The total number of eyes operated upon was 134 of which 99 successful reattachments were attained. The remaining 35 eyes, 4 e3es developed endophthalmitis (3%) while 31 had recurrent detachment. StUdy of the pre-operative risk factors revealed that 4 eyes constituting 12~ of the recurrent cases were not possible to detect the retinal breaks, 27% of the recurrent cases were aphakic (9 out of 31 eyes). MUltiplicity of tears constituted 63% (22 out of 31 eses), of the recurrent cases and more than one deta¬ched quadrant was a finding in 50% of cases (16 out of 31 eses). 77% of the recurrent cases were of long. |
