Abstract Twenty seven eyes of twenty phakic patients were included in the study 0 All patients were recieved med¬ical treatm~nt before laser trabeculo, plasty. The mean ocular tension before medical treatment was 32.5 ± 5.7 mmHg and after medical treatment was 22.64 ± 4.5 mmHg. Two weeks after laser treatment the mean ocular tension was 16.69 + 3.6 mmHg. The average pressure reduction was essentially the same through out the entire period of follow up without tendencies for pressures to creap up. Fourteen out of 27 eyes were controlled without medical treatment while 8 eyes need only local miotics but the remaining 5 eyes need systemic and local a~ti¬glaucoma medications. So, medications were reduced successfully in 22 of 27 eyes and completely eliminated in 14 of 27 eyes in our study. Early post operative rise of tension occured in 55.5% of cases with average 3.6 + 2.09 mmHg, this rise was insignificant and does not implicate failure of treatment as it was transient. |
