Abstract
Inability to examine the posterior segment ophthalmo¬scopically in eyes with cataractous lens makes Bonography a helpful tool in hands of ophthalmologists to get an idea about the structures behind the lenso In this work, both A- and B-scan were performed for 152 eyes with complicated, traumatic, senile and developmental cataract presented to the outpatient clinic of Mansoura University hospital from January to April 1987. In 24 eyes with traumatic cataract, 9 cases of vitreous haemorrhage aad 4 cases of retinal detachment were detectedo Only one intraocular foreign body was detected. In JJ eyes with senile cataract only 4 cases with vit- real degenerations were diagnosed. In 73 eyes with complicated cataract to iridocyclitis, retinal detach~ent, myopia, diabetes, and syphilis: 16 cases with vitreal ex~dates, deganerationa and membranes, 20 o~sea with retinal detachment, one case with tumour of the choroid were diagnosed.
