Abstract Fourty patients undergoing extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber intra-ocular lens implantation were included in the study, comparing the effect of two visco-elastic materials (healon and methylcellulose) on intraocular pressure changes and corneal endothelium cell loss post-operatively. The preoperative evaluation consists of a complete ophthalmolo¬gical examination, endothelium cell examination by specular microsc¬ope and intraocular pressure measurement by gold mann aplanation tonometer. Central endothelium cell count per/square millimeter was calculated from the developed pictures by means of variable frame method. For all patients many factors were stabilized to exclude the effects of these factors on the corneal endothelium and intra-ocular nressure. |
