Abstract

In recent years, it became clear that bronchial asthma is accompanied by chronic mucosal inflammation of the airways. This airway inflammation is an important determinant of bronchial hyperreactivity. Airway inflammation is mediated by triangle of three cells: T lymphocytes, mast cells and eosinophils. Last two cells are the effector cells but the main cell is T lymphocytes which orchestrate this inflammatory process by releasing different pattern of cytokines. The aim of our work is to evaluate of the profile of T cell activation markers in children with different types of asthma, and also aimed to through a light on the importance of these markers in diagnosis of asthma. Patients and Methods i)Children’ attending the Allergy Clinic, Pediatric Department Mansoura University Hospital with clinically moderate asthma were the candidate of this work j)13 children diagnosed as moderate intrinsic asthmatics, (8females & 5 males) with ages ranged from 4 to 13 years (with a mean 7.5 years +SE 0.85) k)12 children diagnosed as moderate extrinsic asthmatics.
