Abstract The present Work was cOnducted to study the effects of the CaH channel blockers verapamil and nifedipine on the serum glucose , insulin and cortisol levels in the non di abeti c and di abet i c rats , as We II as , any nossr b Ie interactions between these CaH channel blockers and the oral hYPoglycaemic glic]azide With regard to their effect on the serum glucose, insulin and cortisol levels 0 The data obtained in the stUdy could be summarized as fallows: 1- Verapamil in a Single oral daily dose Of 20 mg/kg for success i ve 15 days , prodUCed a high) Y s i gni fi can t increase of the mean serum glucose level in the non diabetic rats and inSignificant Changes in alloxan diabetic rats. The serum inSUlin level was reduced Significantly in both groups. Serum cortisol level was not Significantly altered in both. |
