Abstract of this work is to evaluate the role of computed in thoracic injuries and to qompare with the conventional radiography . This study included qO patients t 32 males and 8 females different forms of thoracic trauma and different presentations presented acutely at Mansoura Hospital or referred electively from the rdiothoracic and General Surgery Departments . • The most common thoracic injury was rib fractures 22 (55%) t they were more common on the left side . The ain radiography detected all the cases with rib fractures scanning was more sensitive in detecting other small that may be not apparent on CXR. Pleural lesions were also seen in 22 patients (55%) following lesions in the order of frequency arenchymatous pulmonary lesions in 13 patients (32.5%) emphysema in 12 patients (30 %) t mediastinal in 7 patients (17.5%) clavicle fracture in q (9.5%) t diaphragmatic rupture in 3 patients (7.5%) t lastly scapular fracture which is found in only one Also t OT shows all cases with pneumothorax 11 patients (28.5%) but the plain radiography missed q cases t so treatment of most cases wi th pneumothot-ax depends upon |
