Abstract CllOlesteatoma, of t e n a complication of inflammatory disease of the middle ear and mastoid. is a sac lined by squamous epithelium filled with keratin debris. keratinizing squamous epithelium and fibrous stromal subepithelium. (Nager, 1977). This study oomp r is ed 20 patients with clinical susception of cholesteatoma. They are 8 females and 12 males with age ranging from 8-45 years. Eight patients are operated upon, All patients were subjected to: * Thorough clinical and neurological examination. * Otoscopic examination * Radiological examination of the middle ear - Plain x-ray - Computed tomography. The basic data and CT features of all patients were tabulated and analysed so as to demonstrate the different radiologic features of middle ear cholesteatoma. Plain radiographic findings of the temporal bone showed lwponeumat i za t i on in 5% of cases. Bone eros i on in 60% of cases and sclerotic mastoid in 85% of cases. |
