Abstract The material o~ this study comprised 100 patients 61 males and 39 ~emales with their ages ranged ~rom 2 months to 66 years. They were classi~ied according to the ~inal diagnosis into mitral valve disease [M.S. + M.R.J (48 patients) , dilated cardiomyopathy (16 patients) , mitral stenosis (12 patients), mitral regurge ( 9 patients) VSD (7 patients) ischemic heart disease ( 4 patients), aortic aneurysm (2 patients) and PDA in the last (2 patients). The patients were re~erred ~rom : Cardiology out patient clinic, General Medicine, Pediatric and Cardiothoracic Surgery departments at Mansoura University Hospital during the period ~rom December 1993 to March 1995. The aim o~ this work is to evaluate the le~t atrial dimensions in di~~erent cardiac disorders and ~ind out the most relaible non invasive techniques in assessment o~ the clinical situation detection 0+ any complications and associated +indings. The patients were subjected to the ~ollowing examinations: 1- Conventional x-ray: a- Chest P.A. view Tar all patients. |
