Abstract In this study 68 patient with splenomegaly were examined by plain X-ray abdomen and abdominal ultra¬sonography Other investigations as intravenous uro¬gram, chest and bone survey were done when reqUired The plain X-ray abdomen showed the enlarged soft tissue shadow of the spleen when moderately and hugely enlarged • Splenic calcification was noted in 2 cases of T.B. Chest X-ray showed enlarged hilar and paratrach” eal lymph nodes in 2 cases of lymphoma, left sided emp¬yema in one case of splenic abscess, and hilar and pul¬monary calcificatio~s in one case of T.B. I Bone survey showed coarse trabeculations, corti¬cal thinning and medullary expansion of tubular bones with widening of diplo:tc space of skull bones in cases ”i of paemolytic anaemia. The case of Still’s disease showed articular erosions, fusiform swelling of small joints with cortical thickening of tubular bones of the hands • Intravenous urogram showed displaced ureters by enlarged para-aortic lymph nodes in one case of non¬Hodgkin lymphoma • Another case of non-Hodgkin lymphoma |
