Abstract In this• study 75 patients with history of renal troubles that were related to polycystic kidney disease or hydronephrosis were examined by plain x-ray to the urinary tract, abdominal ultrasonography and intravenous urography. Laboratory investigations such as serum creat¬inine were done. The plain X-ray to the urinary showed the enlarged soft tissue shadolll of the kidneys and detected stones in the urinary systems. Hydronephrosis represented 50 cases of our series. The sonographic criterias of severe hydronephrosis were the presence of multiple cysts that nearly equal in size and shape and communicated with each other and with the renal pelvis which might or might not be enlarged. The position of the largest cysts were at any site of the kidney. The number of these cysts were usually less than 10 in total renal section or were usually less than 5 in partial renal sectiurl. It was very difficult tu detect a rim of parenchyma in cases of advanced hydronephrosis especially in non-fun¬ctionin~ renal unite. Pulycystic kidney diseases represented 25 cases. The sonoqraphic pattern of polycystic kidney disease were the prnnnnrn of mult.iple cysts that. varied in size and shape and • The faces between them. The number of these cysts were enumerable. |
