Abstract

This study was carried out to assess the diagnostlc value of electrophysiological tests in cervical spondyloslS. It was carried on 30 patients of both sexes above 30 years with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy diagnosed according to the clinical criteria of Golding (1989) and radiological criteria of Sutton (1980). Ten e evrnp t orne t i c volunteers of matched age and sex were selected as controls. Each case was subjected to full history taking clinical examination, radiographic examination, and electrophysiological evaluation which included: 1- EMG of the upper extremity and paraspinal muscles. 2- Motor conduction velocity of both median and ulnar nerves. 3- F wave latency studies of the median nerve at wrist on both sides. Electromyographic finding~, cfinical findings and radiographic findings were evaluated It. was found that the clinical findings were highly correlated with the EMG abnormalities (P < 0.001) but not with radiographic
