Abstract CT has a unique role in diagnosis and determine the nature of the through its density and the patt.ern of enhancement before and after I.V. administration of contrast material. The aim of this study is to asses the role of computed tomography (CT) in the detection of renal and perirenal masses through their CT specific criteria. The material of this work composed of 65 patients with renal and perirenal masses. These patient.s were subjected to CT examination, study and other radiologic investigations. Accordingly, the patients were classified into four groups according to their final d.i agno s i s int.o inflammatory, cys ti c , po s t r-auma t i c , and neop I as t i c renal masses. This study presents our experience with CT in 7 cases with dif¬ferent renal inflammatory conditions. CT was the only radiologic tool can detect both gross anatomic and functional changes associated each pathologic process, so it limited the differential diagnostic possibilities and the therapeutic dicision. CT evaluate 7 cases with diverse cystic lesions that was inconclusi ve by other imaging modalities. It had a great accuracy to detect the na tur e of the c o n t e n ts through its at.tenuation values and the fine calcification in the wall or at its septae which aid in dif¬ferentiating between benignancy and malignancy. |
