Abstract Our studY was conducted to evaluate the state of gastric mucosa in portal hypertensive patients as regard endoscopic appearance. histopathological changes and the predon1inant mucosal lesion whether inflan1matory gastritis or congestive gastropathy. Also the effects of sclerotherapy. DSRS and Hassab’s operation on portal hypertensive gastropathy were evaluated by endoscopy and biopsy. Gastropathy was encountered in 20 out of 60 patients 33% after thorough endoscopic exarrlinations. among them 17 cases (28%) had mild congestive gastropathy and 3 cases (5%) with severe congestive gastropathy. As regard the location and distribution of congestive gastropathy. the fundus was affected in (70%) of cases. while the body was affected in (60%) of cases and antrum in (35%) of cases. |
