Abstract There is still controversy as regard treatment of unstable dorsolumbar fractures. Management of such cases starts with a proper diagnosis. Standard X-ray and computerized tomography were essential in defining the nature of the fracture. Denis classification of spinal fractures proved to be practical and was the one used in this study. White and panjabi scoring was found to be suitable for objective analysis of such fractures. Associated injuries were found to be common and required a prompt diagnosis and adequate treatment. Commonest associated injury was dorsolumbar fracture at another level. The patients were selected randomly for treatment. One group of patients were managed by postural reduction and nursing in conventional bed. Manipulative reduction was used in cases with fracture dislocations associated with complete paraplegia. |
