Abstract Heart failure is a common clinical syndrome, in infancy and childhood. Its incidence in our country is high due to high incidence of acute rheumatic fever with its cardiac sequatae as well as congenital heart diseases. Early recognition of CHF in infancy and childhood is very important to initiate proper therapy, search for underlying aetiology and prevent complications which may affect growth and development in this age. Heart failure is a clinical diagnosis and diagnosis of acute congestive heart failure depends on the presence of tachycardia,tachypnea and enlarged tender liver as well as cardiomegaly which is difficult to be assessed clinically.Investigation of congestive heart failure in infancy and childhood depends on chest radiography,electrocardiography, echo cardiography and checks up arterial blood gases and electrolytes. No single test is specific for congestive heart failure.The management of congestive heart failure should directed towards. |
