Abstract Among the pediatric health hazards, liver disease beara Considerable magnitude and have a high morbidity and mortality. The liver is primarily a metabolic organ that coordinates a variety of hormonal, biochemical and physiological processes. Severe liver disease is expected to alter metabolism and clearance of various substance. A particular relevant example of such metabolic disorder is the steroid metabolic disorders. Study of steroid metabolism can assess a wide range of hepatic synthetic activity (bile acids, CBG), activation (25 (OH) vit. D), inactivation (cortisol and degradation (corticosteroids and sex hormones). This study aimed at evaluating the possible effects of various liver disease on some aspects of steroid metabolism. The study included 71 patients with different forms of liver disease,, their ages ranged from 2 months to 14 years. The patients were classified on the basis of clinical,, radiological, laboratory and pathological I- Cirrhosis 20 children (14 males and 6 females) with age range 2-14 years. 2- Chronic hepatitis 16 children, (7 males and 9 females) with age range 3-12 years. 3- Glycogen storage disease 6 children, (3 males and 3 females) with age range 2-4 years. 4- Congenital hepatic fibrosis 5 children, (3 males and 2 females) with age range 3 -1 0 years. 5- Acute hepatitis 8 children, (2 males and 6 females) with age range 3-7 years.
