Abstract The acut infections are usually associated with mild to moderate anemia. Acute and severe anemia has been described with severe bacterial infection, while mild to moderate anemia IS usually caused by viral infiections or immunization. This study was planned to correlate the erythropoletin level, iron status, withthe type of anernia. The work comprised 60 children Suffering from acute infection, (33) males and (27) fiemales. Their ages ranged from 5 to 10,years. In addition, 20 children with matched age and sex, free from any disease, were selected as a control, group. The patients were selected from fever hospitals and outpatient children clinic. * The studied cases were subjected to the following I - Full history taking. ’)- Thorough clinical examination. 3- Laboratory investigations Including a) Anti streptolys in 0 titre (ASO), C-reactive protein (C R P), HB,Ag, AST (aspartate aminotransfierase), ALT (alanme aminotransferase) and Widal test, to confirm the diagnosis. b) Complete blood Count, peripheral blood smear examination, 11-~Slk, reticulocvtic count, hemoglobin electrophoresis and bone marrow aspiration were done to diagnose the type of anernia. |
