Abstract This work is a retrospective stusy of 90 patients with primary eNS tumours registered in the Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Department of Mansoura University Hospital during the period 1980 - 1991 inclusive. This work includes the various clinico-epidemiological features and the treatment recieved. It was found that the relative frequency Gf primary CNS to all malignancies recorded during the same period was 2.12% and its relative frequency among males was 2.4% and among females was 1.5%. The male to female ratio was found to 1. 6 : 1 The peak age incidence of CNS tumours was in the fourth + for males, with a mean age of 36.15 - 22.7 vears, and + the second decade for females with a mean age of 24.46 - 17 The most frequent histological SI.Jbt•YPi-? brain strocytoma (52%). Most patients presented with manifestations of increased ntracranial tension. The incidence of primary eNS tumours in this locality was ound to be simi13r to that reported in the litreatures |
