Abstract

Ncuroimagcs are non invasive techniques of high diagnostic efficiency. The aim in our work is to study the value of neuroimages in the diagnosis of muscle diseases. To achieve this, 113 selecetd cases of different muscle disorders were choosen ( including muscular dystrophy, int1ammatory muscle disease and secondary myopathy group ) beside 20 normal subjects studied & considercd as a control group . Each case was examined clinically , clectromyographically and by muscle biopsy. In addition to ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance examinations at different levels in the muscles suspected to suffer from the disease process. Our results were compared with each other and also with the results of other workers . Our results showed that the accuracy rate of electromyography was 34 % in muscular dystrophy group, 37 % in secondary myopathy group but 14 % in int1ammatory muscle group. The accuracy rate of muscle biopsy was 31 % in muscular dystrophy group, 26 (Yo in int1ammatory muscle group and 54.5 % in secondary myopathy group & this indicated the importance & the valiability of muscle biopsy in all examined groups expecially the int1ammatory cases compared with the electromyography. The accuracy rate of myosonogaphy was 63 % in muscular dystrophy group, and 51 % in secondary myopathy group. However , the ultrasound was limited in detection of evidence.
