Abstract

This work was conducted on 486 adult human, healthy and smoker male subjects, aged 18 - 25 years. All volunteers were recruited from medical students and each volunteer was subjected to complete clinical history taking, comprehensive physical examination and investigations to exclude unhealthy subjects. On the day of the experiment, each subject was asked to have a light breakfast and to wear comfortable clothes and the experimental procedures were explained to him. The following pulmonary function tests were measured using Super-Spiro Discorn 21 FX: 1- Vital Capacity (V.C). 2- Forced Vital Capacity (F.V.C). 3- Forced Expiratory Volume at the first second (F.E.V1). 4- Maximal Voluntary Ventilation (MVV). 5- Peak Expiratory Flow Rate (PEFR). These pulmonary functions were measured in the following conditions: I-At rest and immediately after a standard treadmill exercise test. 2- Before and after inhalation of different bronchodilators, both at rest and post exercise.
