Abstract

This study include 30 adult patients admitted to the Emergency Hospital, ansoura University with femoral neck fractures and treatment by closed ,eduction and percutaneous screws fixation under image control. The patients were adult persons of both sex 80 % male patients and . 120% female patients with minimum age 15 year and the oldest age 57 iyear. The fractures were classified according to Garden classification into Garden I, II, III, IV only Garden I, II, III were included in this series, pathological fracture, fractures with posterior comuiination and vertical fracture line were excluded from this series. All patients anaesthesied by spinal anaesthesia. The patients operated on orthopaedic table under image control to get proper anteroposterior and lateral views of the femoral neck Closed reduction was tried in every patient under image control using Whitman maneuver, if failed closed reduction, open reduction was done and excluded from this series. Both standard cancellous screws and cannulated cancellous screws used. The screws may be placed parallel to each other and better in triangular configuration one lying superiorily and central in the neck, other two screws lying inferio-anteriorlY and inferio-posteriorly, with tips of screws reach subchondral bone the threads of the screws should lie antirely within the proximal fragment and passing the fracture site to give secure fixation.
