Abstract

Renovascular hypertension is defined as a disorder of the main and its branches causitive of arterial hypertension. causes of renovascular hypertension are renal artery (most common cause), atherosclerosis, fibromuscular dysplasia; less common causes: are renal artery emboli, renal artery narrowing by extrinsic band or compresion by renal or extrarenal mass, radiation damage of the renal artery. ” Aim of our study was to evaluate various radiological which are used in diagnosis and treatment of R. V.B. and to choose the most appropriate non-invasive method. Doppler US has received considerable attention recently for detection of renal artery stenosis with investigations basically in two categories, increased velocity produced by the stenosis and altered wave form morphology. This alteration of the pulsus tardus and parvus abnormalities, prolonged acceleration time (AT) 80.07 sec, diminished acceleration index (AI) and loss of the normal early systolic peak. Although sensitivities of 79%-91 tYrl and specifities of 73%-97% were mentioned in these early reportes, a OtYrl sensitivity shown in more recent ones (Berland et al., 1990).
