Abstract Abortion is a tragic incident that casts sorrow on the life of any couples. The problem gets even more drastic when becoming recurrent. Viewing the multiplicity and ramifications of the aetiologic factors accused to be responsible for such unfortunate losses, we should appreciate that proper diagnosis is the key to a cost-effective management. Hysterography remained for years a simple standard screening procedure that allowed exploring the uterine cavity for potential defects in recurrent aborters. Fractionrttioll of the dye is a modi fication of the standard technique that allowed enhancement of diagnostic accuracy of hysterography. Diagnostic hysteroscopy is a technique that has a substantiated diagnostic accuracy in the work up of habitual aborters. In this study we meant to evalttate the diagnostic ability of fractional hysterography compared to that of the well standardized diagnostic hysteroscopy as screening tests in the workup of habitual aborters. The study was conducted in a blind prospective manner. Over nearly one year, 66 cases of recurrent abortion were recruited. Most oftheir losses (77.3%) were related to the midtrimester. |
