Abstract

First Sensation was found to be significantly increased in constipated patients than in control group (p=0.00 1). Also it was found to be higher ill constipated-soiling patients than in constipated non-soiling patients. Incidence of soiling increased correlatively with the increased value of FS, and above FS of 115 ml, soiling was present in all subjects. Resting anal pressure was higher in constipated patients than in control h’TOUP (p=0.006). Also it was found to be higher in constipated non-soiling patients than in constipated soiling patients (p< 0.00 I). First urge to defecation found to be higher in constipated patients than in control group. Also it is found to be higher in constipated soiling than constipated non-soiling patients. Maximum squeeze pressure was found to be insignificant (p=0.94, p=0.21) when comparing constipated cases Vs control and constipated soiling Vs constipated non-soiling cases respectively. Out of seven anorectal parameters studied, only FUD, MTV and FS showed high predictability for constipation. These parameters may be used to predict constipation.
