Abstract The treatment and functional evaluation of disabled hand is a common clinical request. However the neuromuscular examination strategy of the function of the most important segment of the hand, the thumb, is still incomplete (Simrnard and Robberge, 1988) . On this respect, Parry (1981) declared that an intelligent rehabilitation of the hand depends on great part on a sound knowledge of its anatomy. Tubiana (1981) stated that the exceptional functional value of the thumb comes from the mobility of its metacarpal and its intrinsic musculature. Thus it was decided to study the anatomy of thenar muscles, their variability’s and the patterns of their nervous and arterial supply. |
