Abstract

The aim of the present study is to evaluate and correlate changes of different parameters in resting ECG, Holter monitor, echocardiography and Wterial blood gases in patients with COPD, to use these correlation as predictors of prognosis and to plan strategies for therapy and prevention of lethal events. The present work comprised 40 male patients with COPD with mean age 60 years old they wereclassifide into tow groups groupI included 16 pationewith resporatory failur who needmechnical ventilation and group 11 included 24 patients without respiratory failure. The present work comprised 40 male patients with COPD with mean age 60 years old. investigations 12 lead ECG, 24 hours AECGM with echo/Doppler examination. The most important results are:-Statistically significant association between pulmonary hypertension and presence of respiratory failure all blood gases parameters showed no significant difference between patients with pulmonary hypertension and patients without pulmonary hypertension except PaCO2, that showed statistically significant increase in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Statistically significant increases in right ventricular dysfunction in patients with pulmonary hypertension.
