Abstract Introduction: HCV infection has been described in patients with cryoglobulinaemia type II .HCV RNA has been found in both the serum and cryoglobulins, with the concentration of HCV RNA cryoprecipitate being 1000 times higher than that found in the serum. As many as 80% of essential mixed cryoglobulinaemia patients have evidence of HCV RNA detected by PCR, which may explain the known benefits of interferon ? in treating this disease Subjects & Methods This study comprised 48 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus divided into 2 groups according to disease activity and do HCV antibodies, PCR for HCV, Antids DNA Cryoglobulins Results Increase incidence of Cryoglobulins in SLE patients especially active group Increase incidence of HCV antibodies in SLE patients especially active group Conclusion: Cryoglobulinaemia and HCV antibodies may be considered as a ”new indices” of the disease activity in SLE |
