Abstract

This research work was conducted to investigate the effect of curing-techniques and degree of polymerization on the fatigue and impact strength of conventional and modified acrylic resin materials.
Materials used this study :
1-Conventional heat-cured acrylic resin Acrostone polymer and monomer.
2-High impact resin (Keystone) polymer and monomer.
3- Metal-filled resin. a) Conventional heat-cured acrylic resin + 5% Aluminum powder added to polymer by volume.
b) Conventional heat-cured acrylic resin + 5% Tin powder added to polymer by volume.
Methods and procedures The test specimens for each experiment were divided into five groups according to curing teclmiques as the following: Group 1 : Curing in water bath at 73c° for 8 hours (long curing).
Group 2 : Curing in water bath at 73+ Ic° for 1.5 hours followed by 1/2 an hour of boiling at 100°c (short curing).
Group 3 : Curing in domestic pressure cooker for 12 hour.
Group 4 : Curing in microwave oven with fiber glass flask.
Group 5 : Curing in microwave oven with flask free.
