Abstract

The development of retention to the metal framework for resin-bonded fixed partial dentures has created a more conservative mode of treatment for patients with namel remaining on the abutment teeth.
While the bonded cast restorations have cellent esthetics and a conservative form, the clinical durability depends on Jhesive retention and framework design.
However, bond strengths of adhesive cast storations with various designs have not been investigated.
The tensile and shear bond strength of Panavia 21 and Super bond C&B to kel-chromium and type IV gold alloy disks using five surface treatments, the durabi1ity of the bond strength after thermal cycling, the fracture character and the marginal microleakage were evaluated.
Also, the failure bond strength and the durability of three different framework designs of fixed partial dentures after fatigue test were evaluated.
Two types of dental alloys (nickel-chromium and type IV gold), two types of IIL sive resins (Panavia 21 and Super bond C&B) and five surface treatments (sandblast Ez, OXISOR, TIN Planting, and M.primer)were used in the study.
