Abstract The problem of motion of a rigid body about a fixed point is one of the most two challenging problems in the history of theoretical mechanics, the other is the n-body problem, i.e. the study of motion of n-bodies under their mutual attraction. In spite of the large number of elegant contributions of many mathematicians in the last three centuries, both problems are still far from having a complete solution. |
