Abstract Aminoglycoside antibiotics are regarded up till now as one of the most effective group of antibiotics. They are used for treatment of gram negative organisms including pseudomonas aeruginosa. Gentamicin is now used not only for injections, but used in different pharmaceutical formulations against skin and eye infections. For an aim to introduce this antibiotic into Egyptian pharmaceutical industry by fermentation, two previous studies were carried in our department of microbiology, Mansoura including studies on some factors affecting the production of gentamicin inside culture flasks and bench top fermenters For an aim of continuation of our goal, it was of interest to deal with the effect of mutation in the production of gentamicin as an important member of aminoglycoside antibiotics, the present work was suggested. Before dealing with mutation it was of interest to study the effect of some supplements on the productivity of gentamicin by the wild strain.? ? The effects of glucose at a concentration of 1000 mg/dl, fructose 1000 mg/dl or fructose 2000 mg/dl alone on the production of gentamicin by Micromonospora purpurea wild strain were studied. |
