Abstract

On the main purposes of the present work is to improve the performance of weaving through studying weft insertion system for ?Air Jet? weaving machines to minimize the rate of weft breaks. In the present investigation, the author intended to study the effect of programmable filling tensioner (P.F.T.) on weft breaks. Also the experiments carried out to measure air flow with locking some of relay nozzle peak, forces on weft yam, outlet tension of programmable filling tensioner at different positions. On the other hand, type of weft breaks classified for different position on air jet weaving machine. The use of programmable filling tensioner reduced of the weft breaks for air jet weaving machine reed width 190cm, 220cm, and 280cm by 10%, 16%, 25%, from total breaks for Ne30 carded cotton yam, and, for Ne40 combed cotton yarn led to a reduction 16%, 27%, and 22% at the same speed of weaving machines. The results obtained in reduction of weft breaks across fabric width concentrated on receiving side with 46%, 41% for Ne30 carded cotton yarn and Ne40 combed cotton yarn. With respect to use of programmable filling tensioner different positions from K1 to K5 led to a reduction, in peak force acting on weft yarn by 50% and 30%, for Ne40 and Ne30 respectively. With respect to use flux and brush type of weft accumulator it was found that flux type causes reduction of the peak force by 50%. The most positive result obtained for removing of relay nozzles. Economical study led to reduction in consumption of air by 2.8% to 10.2% for Ne30, and 1.7% to 6.8% for Ne40. Reduction in weft breaks by 40%, 30% for two types of air jet weaving machines model Omni & Delta, reduction on peak force by 10 to 19%, less twist loss by 4% at receiving side also positive result add 9% profit /year extra to profit of totally 60 air jet weaving machines. Regarding the theoretical analysis it was calculated outlet weft tension programmable filling tensioner at different positions comparing results with measured values it was found that results are closed to each other.
