Abstract

Lymphocytic infiltrate of the skin is a common finding in many skin lesions. When lymphoid infiltrate is the main histological feature in these lesions, they are named lymphocutaneous proliferative disorders. Most of lymphoproliferative disorders are malignant (cutaneous lymphoma) and few are benign (cutaneous pseudolymphoma). The differentiation between them is often very difficult but it is essential as it avoids the patient unnecessary exposure for chemotherapy. Clinicopathological correlation with the help of immunohistochemistry are essential to reach the correct diagnosis of the lymphoproliferative disorders of the skin, so skin biopsy is an essential step for diagnosis. The present work is planned to discuss the current aspects of classifications of cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders, to study the histological and immunohistochemical criteria for their diagnosis as well as to highlight the main criteria for differentiation between the different groups. This study involves fifty cases of lymphoproliferative disorders. All cases are stained with H & E as well as immunohistochemistry using CD45RO and CD20.? The results of the present study show that 44 % of the cases is cutaneous pseudolymphoma while 56 % of them are cutaneous lymphoma. LIS is the commonest type of cutaneous pseudolymphoma while, MF is the commonest form of lymphoproliferative disorders that affect skin.
